CPI(ML) puts conditions to meet on Nandigram

Kolkata, May 13: The CPI(ML) today put forth a set of conditions to participate in an all-party meet on Nandigram.

In a meeting with Forward Bloc chief Ashok Ghosh, CPI(ML) secretary Kartick Ghosh said they would take part in the discussion only if an inquiry was initiated into the killings during the period from January 3 to March 14.

Mr Kartick Ghosh said the party also demanded that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee come clear on the steps adopted by the state government to address the grievances of people and bring the prevailing volatile situation under control.

In order to strengthen the peace process for Nandigram, Mr Bhattacharjee had accepted the wishes of the Left Front partners and the Opposition for a revised modality for holding the all-party talks.

At an urgent meeting to be held tomorrow, the ruling Left Front is likely to decide the date for the proposed meeting.
