Heavy rains forecast in Andaman, Nicobar Islands

Pune, May 12 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chattisgarh and at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu and at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Telangana, coastal Karnataka and in remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. They were above normal in some parts of coastal Orissa, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chattisgarh, Rayalseema and north interior Karnataka and remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.

Day temperatures were markedly below normal in some parts of Punjab, appreciably below normal in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and were below normal in some parts of interior Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir. They were normal over the rest of the country.
