Lucknow, May 11: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadavtoday submitted his resignation to state Governor T V Rajeswar afterhis party's defeat in the assembly polls in the state.
Even before all the results were out, Chief Minister Mulayam SinghYadav accepted defeat and tendered his resignation this aftenoon.
Mr Yadav was in office since August 29,2003.
The Governor asked Mr Yadav to continue till the new government was sworn in.
