Lucknow, May 11: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadavtoday submitted his resignation to state Governor T V Rajeswar afterhis party's defeat in the assembly polls in the state.

Even before all the results were out, Chief Minister Mulayam SinghYadav accepted defeat and tendered his resignation this aftenoon.

Mr Yadav was in office since August 29,2003.

The Governor asked Mr Yadav to continue till the new government was sworn in.

Till 1886, the British East India Company was involved in expanding its territory overcoming the resistance from the French, Dutch, Portuguese and the native rulers. At the time of the 1857 revolt, the Company was controlling large portion of India, including the three presidencies, viz Bengal, Bombay and Madras, and the princely states such as Mysore, Punjab, Burma, Satara, Sambalpur, Jhansi, Nagpur, Oudh among many other smaller states. Most of the acquisitions were the result of Lord Dalhousie's.....

Mulayam puts partial blame of defeat on EC

Lucknow, May 11: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, while accepting the people's mandate against his party in the assembly elections, today charged the Election Commission with ''itself becoming a party in the polls''.

Termig the results a mandate of voters, Mr Yadav -- after putting in his papers -- told reporters that his resignation had been accepted by the Governor.

He also charged the EC with itself becoming a party in the elections......

Hyderabad, May 11: 7Seas Technologies Ltd, an independent game development company from India, will launch its online gaming portal on May 13, claiming to be the first of its kind in the world with Indian characters and multilingual options.

Initially hosting 100 games to play on portal 'www.onlinerealgames.com', it would plan to upgrade it to 300 games within a year. The beta version of the portal had already about three lakh registered users, according to.....

Sugar prices improve on better buying support

Mumbai, May 11 (UNI) Sugar prices improved on better buying support, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchant's Association said today here.

Sugar in small grade remained steady on moderate demand while medium grade went up by Rs ten per quintal on reduced stock supply.

Sugar in ex-mill small grade came down by Rs five per quintal on poor demand while medium grade rose by Rs 15 per quintal on increase of fresh demand.
