BBC to broadcast entertainment, kid channels

New Delhi, May 11: Global broadcaster BBC has tied up with IPTV firm India On Line Broadband (IOL) to telecast two of its recently launched channels in India, BBC Entertainment and CBeebies.

IOL is currently available on the MTNL/ BSNL ADSL networks.

''By collaborating with an institution like BBC which is a global leader in news, media and content, we are looking forward to broadcast these two channels to our IPTV viewers with many more channels to follow from BBC,'' said Director IOL Broadband Ltd A S Oberai.

One of BBC Worldwide's six international channels, CBeebies is a pre-school channel for children aged six years and under.

Broadcasting in both Hindi and English, the channel's programme schedule consists of the entertaining, trusted and interactive series seen on the UK's own CBeebies channel.

''IOL has also been appointed as authorised distributor for BBC Global Services to promote its channels across all IPTV platforms in India,'' the company informed the BSE today.

In India, CBeebies brings high-quality, UK-produced programmes to educate and entertain the youngest audiences.

The service provides a range of pre-school programming designed to encourage learning, in a consistently safe environment.

The international CBeebies channel is also commercial-free and is wholly-owned by BBC Worldwide and airs from 0600 hrs-1800 hrs and BBC Entertainment from 1800 hrs-0600 hrs.
