Mizo: BSF apologetic over Tlabung molestation

Aizawl, May 10: The Border Security Force has apologised for the recent Tlabung incident where a BSF jawan allegedly molested local girls.

BSF DIG, Mizoram, M A Khan deplored the BSF jawan's misconduct, which he felt was against the high tradition of discipline maintained by the Force.

The DIG ordered suspension of the accused and made it clear that no interference in the case would be undertaken by the Force till the Civil Court, Tlabung, announced judgment against the erring constable.

He said, ''Let the law of the land prevail.'' In case the constable was found guilty by the Civil Court, the BSF would take action against him under BSF Act and Rules and dismiss him from the service, the DIG promised.

Mr Khan, apologised particularly to the affected people of Tlabung for this incident and assured of all necessary steps. He also requested the people to cooperate and stengthen the hands of BSF to curb the border crimes.

Meanwhile, BSF PRO Altaf told UNI here today that the accused is still in Lunglei district jail and would be tried under the law of the land.
