JK: Pak infiltrators kill soldier, 165 kg RDX seized

Srinagar, May 9: A group of Pakistani infiltrators killed a soldier and wounded three others near the Line of Control (LoC) while security forces busted two hideouts and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including deadly 165 kg RDX, in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

An official spokesman said troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at Kamkali Golab post in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning.

When challenged and asked to surrender, the infiltrators opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash a soldier was killed and three others were wounded.

Later, reinforcements was rushed to the area from nearby camps and about ten km forest areas has been cordoned off from all sides.

A massive operation was going on to nab the militants.

This is the first infiltration from PoK after 24 militants surrendered before the troops in Uri sector last month.

He said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a security force camp at Arampora, Sopore, in Baramulla district last night. However, it missed the intended target and exploded without causing any damage.

Militants kidnapped one Tariq Ahmad Dar from his Kreeri Pattan house last night.

Security forces busted two hideouts in Kishtwar and Doda district of Jammu region and recovered a war-like store.

The recovery included 165 kg deadly RDX which was enough to make more than 40 powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), two wireless sets, one 12 bore gun, three magzines, three hand grenades, five UBGL grenades and 200 rounds of ammunition.

However, no one was arrested, he said.
