Manmohan Singh weakest PM ever: L K Advani

Gorakhpur, May 6: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani today said he doubted that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could facilitate an agreement on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, as he was the weakest Indian Prime Minister. ''Jammu and Kashmir is inseperable from India. Separatists are mushrooming in the Valley and encouraging people to raise anti-India slogans. Unfortunately, the Prime Minister is turning a deaf ear to it,'' Mr Advani said, addressing an election meeting here.

Castigating the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP leader blamed Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for the prevailing 'goonda raj' in the state.

''The BJP is not anti-Muslim nor will it support those encouraging terrorism. If the party was against the community, it would have never supported a Muslim President, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam,'' Mr Advani said.

The recent victories of the BJP in Punjab, Uttarakhand and in the MCD elections in New Delhi reflect the decreasing mass base of the Congress, he noted.

Seeking votes for the BJP, he said the time has come when the electorate should bless the BJP by selecting Kalyan Singh as the next UP Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi lambasted the Congress. ''It is trying to ruin the country by supporting the Muslim appeasement policy. The Sacchar committee and abolition of Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) prove it,'' he said.
