Mayawati flays Congress-led UPA

Ghazipur, Apr 27: Flaying the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, BSP chief Mayawati today said if it had wished Uttar Pradesh would have been prosperous, as it had been in power for the longest tenure both at the Centre and UP.

Further, criticising the ruling Samajwadri Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, she said the crime rate in UP has increased under his regime and the SP has only given shelter to terrorists and criminals.

Nithari, Kavita Rani murder and Allahabad Madarsa rape case, besides Mau and Gorakhpur communal flare-ups are some horrifying examples of the poor law and order situation, she highlighted.

Ms Mayawati also alleged that the Congress was supporting the BJP and SP simply to remain in power at the Centre.

She said her party would support reservation on economic criteria and not on the basis of caste.

Claiming to form the next government in UP with full majority, she said law and order would be given priority by her regime.
