UP: Art of Living holds elites resp for low voting

Sultanpur, Apr 26: Renowned spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar led 'The Art of Living' today held the elite class responsible for the low voting percentage in the last four phases of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly poll.

''Ironically, the elites sleep on polling day and cry for the rest five years. They ought to change their lackadaisical nature if they want a golden tomorrow,'' Bangalore representative of the Art of Living Mahesh Giri observed here.

''Sadly, the elites do not realise the significance of right to vote. Most of them waste the polling day either by having a picnic or enjoying watching a film. It results in low turn out and criminalisation of politics,'' Mr Giri maintained.

There is an urgent need to enlighten the upper class, he underlined.

''The Art of Living foundation is taking out rallies at several districts of UP to encourage elites to exercise their franchise if they want to save the state fron further destruction,'' he added.
