Talking to newspersons here, BJP national secretary Balbir Punj said, ''The fight for the office of chief minister in UP is between Kalyan Singh, Mr Yadav and Mayawati...people are already sufferring from the BSP and Samajwadi Party regimes. Only Kalyan Singh can handle the law and order situtation in the state.'' Congress is not in the power game and results of this election would be totally in favour of the BJP, he maintained.
Mr Punj further charged, ''Mr Yadav and Ms Mayawati both have accumulated enormous wealth and have probes pending against them...they are not appropriate to lead the state.'' ''While, Mayawati has announced to put Mr Yadav and SP leader Amar Singh behind bars, if she comes to power, the CM is asking for votes by seeking sympathy of people on this count,'' he noted.
The BJP leader also termed the ongoing assembly election a turning point for the state.
''BJP believes in ground work. Both, Mr Yadav and Ms Mayawati are talking about jail and not development.'' Highlighting the recent triumphs of the BJP in Punjab and Uttaranchal, he claimed BJP is the first choice of voters. ''People are suffering from crime and bad law and order condition,'' he said.
''BJP has learnt a lot from previous experiences. Giving vote to Congress would be a complete waste,'' he observed.
