The court also pulled up the High Court Public Prosecutor's office and a district prosecutor's office.
Some accused of Dhrangdhara town in Surendranagar district were acquitted in February, 2005, and an appeal was filed in August that year exceeding beyond the stipulated 90 days by the state legal department and public prosecutor's office of Dhrangdhara.
In its 9-page order today, Justice R C Garg said proper steps must be taken by the government's legal department and High Court public prosecutor's office. This sort of delays should not recur.
The Judge ordered a copy of the order to be sent to the Chief Minister, Law Minister, law secretary and Advocate General.
