Candidates hung in caste politics in Uttar Pradesh

Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Apr 12: Caste politics is seen to have taken over the developmental issues in the district where polling is schedule in the third phase on April 18.

According to political analysts, caste politics has again overtaken national issues. The issues of sugarcane farmers, law and order situation, power crises taken backseat in the three assembly constituencies while only the caste equations will be the criteria for the winning candidate.

Two former state ministers from Samajwadi Party (SP), Mahboob Ali and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mangal Singh Saini are face-to-face in Amroha constituency, where Muslim votes could prove to dominate. Besides, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) are also contesting from the seat.

Independent candidate Devendra Nagpal, BSP's Haji Shabban, RLD's Vijaypal Singh Saini is giving tough fight to each other in Hasanpur. SP candidate and former state minister Jagram Singh is challenged by BJP candidate Harpal Singh in Gangeshwari assembly seat.
