UP: Muslim body slams EC for refusing rath yatra

Lucknow, Apr 10: The All-India United Muslim Morcha has criticisied the Election Commission for not giving approval to its proposed 'Rath Yatra' to make the voters aware about their rights to cast ballot in the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The Morcha also demanded action against the BJP and its leader for the controversial CD through which it allegedly tried to create communal disturbances.

Addressing a press conference here today, Morcha's state president M A Siddique said even after repeated requests, the EC refused us permission to use around 20-25 vehicles for the awareness drive.

Dr Siddqiue, commenting on the BJP's CD issue said, the party had always tried to create communal disturbances to polarise the majority community vote bank and create terror among the minorities.

Without taking any names, he said a secular party was also behind the entire CD eposide and was trying to gain political mileage in the UP polls.
