Bangalore, Mar 23: Toyota today announced setting up of Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) for training of students and improving their employability.

The purpose of establishing the Institute was to offer an opportunity to acquire special skills of "Monozukuri" ("skilled manufacturing"), for those students who have the talent but cannot go for higher education due to economic reasons.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Managing Director Atsushi Toyoshima, in a release here today, said that the Institute would also provide employment opportunities to students apart from providing a high standard of education and training in automotive technology.

''In addition to making quality automobiles, we believe in proactively contributing to society by consolidating the knowledge and know-how within Toyota to develop capable human resources and thus contribute to the development of a prosperous society,'' Mr Toyoshima said.

TTTI would receive its first batch of students 60 students in August for a three-year residential course.

The TTTI would offer its students a total of four courses in Automobile Assembly, Automobile Paint, Automobile Weld and Mechatronics (a combination of mechanical and industrial electronics). The course would involve practical training at TKM plant during which students would be exposed to the application of the world renowned Toyota Production System.
