ULFA pins hopes on PCPIA meet

Guwahati, Mar 22 (UNI) Banned outfit ULFA is pinning hopes on indigenous people's convention organised by the People's Committee for Peace in Assam (PCPIA) for a peaceful solution to the Asom issue. ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa in a statement to the media here today lauded the PCPIA for holding such a convention to find an amicable solution to the problem.

He hoped the conclave would be able to find a 'peaceful' solution to the 'conflict' that has turned 'bloody'. The convention got underway here today.

The ULFA further stated that similar conventions held earlier had failed to find any solution terming the current conclave to be a step taken in right time by the PCPIA.

The ULFA leader suggested that the convention should take a bold decision on the issue instead of harping endlessly on terms like 'peace and peace-talks'.

The ULFA had been fighting for the 'restoration of sovereignty in Assam' for last 27 years.
