MP Assy Speaker directs Govt to reach out to poor

Bhopal, Mar 22 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today issued directions to the government to take necessary steps to include the name of people living below poverty line in the BPL list.

After the matter was raised by Mr Dhurv Pratap Singh (BJP) in the Question Hour, Mr Rohani said poor people were unable to pay repeated visits to tahsils.

Under such circumstances, the government must reach the poor by organising camps and get their names included in the BPL list.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh said the Speaker's directions would be followed.

Camps will be organised after giving information to people so that their names could be included in the BPL list.

Earlier, Mr Singh, Mr Ajay Singh (Cong) and other members had pointed out that poor were unable to reach the tahsildar or the Collector and were deprived of their genuine right. Several eligible persons had been removed from the list.

After the Speaker's ruling, Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava was seen clarifying that inclusion of people in the BPL list was a continuous process. The process was moving on without any hindrance.
