India, Vietnam to cooperate in fisheries: Cabinet

New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to a MOU to be signed between India and Vietnam on bilateral cooperation in the field of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The MOU would facilitate exchange of information and data and exchange of government officials, scientists, research assistants, specialists, fisheries extension workers between the two countries, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

There would be cooperation in the field of training for administrative officers, researchers and human resources in fisheries and aquaculture.

It would also encourage promotion and encouragement of direct cooperation between the businesses of the two Parties in investment, joint-venture establishment, technology transfer in the fields of fishing, aquaculture, fish processing, fishery export/import and other fishery-related industries.

The MOU shall enter into force from the date of signature by both parties and shall remain effective for an unlimited period.
