Firepro Systems launches Australian operations

Bangalore, Mar 22: Leading Indian fire protection and security group Firepro Systems has taken its first international step in the Asia-Pacific region today by officially launching its Australian operations with its headquarters in Melbourne.

The launch was officiated by Victoria's Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Tim Holding, MP, at the Victorian Investment Centre, Firepro Systems said in a release here.

Firepro, known for its cutting-edge approach to fire protection and security, specialised in the design, installation and maintenance of fire safety, electronic security and building management systems. The company had particular expertise in providing fire and safety solutions to the ICT sector and its extensive list of clients included multinationals such as Microsoft, Oracle, Motorola, Lucent and Intel. In Australia, the company would target both the Government and corporate sectors, the release said.

Firepro Founder and Managing Director N S Narendra said ''the establishment of a Melbourne office will be the first step in expanding the business throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific.''

Japan shuts units at top nuke plant after quake

Tokyo, July 16: Tokyo Electric Power Co has shut down three major generators at the world's biggest nuclear power plant after today's powerful earthquake in Japan caused a brief fire in one of the units, company officials said. The company, Asia's biggest utility, said there there was no radiation leakage at the facility after a fire hit a transformer at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No 3 nuclear generation unit. The fire was quickly extinguished, it said......
