Delhi police collects records and information on M F Hussain

Rajkot, Mar 22 (UNI) On the directive of the Supreme Court, Delhi Police have collected records and Information from the Rajkot police as per the complaint filed against noted painter M F Hussain for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by painting ''obscene pictures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses''.

Police said Delhi police yesterday collected the record and information from the Rajkot crime branch police as social worker and resident of Rajkot Iliaskhan Pathan had made a complaint before the Judicial Magistrate here on February 25 last year in which he had charged Hussain with hurting sentiments of the Hindus by drawing nude portraits of the deities and uploading the content on a website.

Supreme Court had directed the Delhi police to investigate the allegations levelled against the painter M F Hussain before taking any step to apprehend him, the police said.

Nawaz Sharif still an offender despite pardon: Pak Supreme Court

Islamabad, Feb.2 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that though former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been pardoned in the case relating to his disqualification from contesting the by-elections, he still remains an offender.According to The News, Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali observed that Sharif was still an offender and not eligible to contest the elections.Earlier, during the hearing, Sharif's lawyer Akram Sheikh argued that the case against his client does not have legality to stand in.....
