Centre approves Rs 2cr for Tripura tourism

Agartala, Mar 22: The Centre has approved Tripura government's Rs 2.74 crore to develop some parts of the state as tourist destinations, official sources said today.

The proposed project includes the development of old Agartala, the sources added.

With a tagline of ''Visit Agartala'', State's the Tourism department has started developmental works to attract tourists from outisde the state and abroad.

The project includes renovation of a few historical spots including traditional temples of 14 deities in old Agartala and a lake built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

ARC to report on conflict management in NE

Agartala, Jul 27: The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), constituted by UPA government, has asserted to submit a separate charter of recommendations on conflict management and insurgency in Northeast. Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, ARC chairman Veerappa Moily said besides, transparency and pro-people administration, the NE states needed a separate administrative strategy to combat insurgency. ''ARC has realised the need to decentralise power to autonomous bodies for the region's betterment,'' Mr Moily, also.....
