Three criminals gunned down in police encounter

Bijnore, Mar 21 (UNI) Police today gunned down three highway robbers in an encounter in Kotwali area here.

A police constable Rishipal was also wounded in the shootout and was admitted to hospital.

Acting on a tip-off this morning that some criminals were intercepting vehicles to rob their occupants, police rushed to the spot.

Spotting the police party, the criminals tried to escape, but were gunned down in the ensuing encounter.

Police recovered looted booty, including ornaments, mobile phones and cash from their possession.

The criminals are yet to be identified.

A case had been registered.

Srinagar, Feb 20: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) pesonnel were killed in a militant attack at Sangam on the Srinagar- Jammu national highway this afternoon, official sources said.They said militants fired upon a Road Opening Party (ROP) of 155 Batallion of CRPF at main market of Sangam, about 42 km from here, on the highway in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.The security personnel were critically wounded in the attack.
