Seven NTPC stations bag national awards

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Seven power stations of NTPC Ltd have bagged the national meritorious performance awards for the year 2004-05 and 2005-06.

NTPC Ramagundam and Simhadri received gold award for year 2004-05 and 2005-06, while NTPC- Dadri received silver award for both 2004-05 and 2005-06.

NTPC Korba bagged silver for 2004-05 and NTPC Singrauli and Unchahar received bronze awards for 2005-06.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented the awards to Chairman and Managing Director NTPC T Sankaralingam and General Managers of the respective stations at a function held here today.

National awards to power utilities for meritorious performance have been instituted by the Ministry of Power to inculcate competitive spirit and to motivate the power utilities to achieve higher levels of performance.

NTPC to add 2,640 MW power in UP

Lucknow, June 11: State-owned power major National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up a new thermal power plant of 1,320 MW capacity and will add fresh capacity of another 1,320 MW at its existing 440 MW Tanda thermal power plant in Ambedkarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
