Police arrested CITU workers

Tirupati, Mar 21 (UNI) Police today arrested 30 CITU workers while they were ready to proceed to Hyderabad to participate in 'Chalo Assembly Programme' to be held tomorrow, in support of one crore unorganised workers in the Andhra Pradesh at railway station here today.

To bring pressure on the government to recognize unorganised sectors work, hundreds of workers led by CITU district Secretary Hari Krishna, CITU town Secretary Ganga Raju and CPM town Secretary Naga Raju were ready to board the Padmavathi Express for Hyderabad, while the police had arrested them.

After releasing the workers perfered to travel by Narayanadri Express to participate in tomorrow's chalo assembly programme.

Bangalore, Dec 12: The Left parties, JD(S) Sindhia faction, Sarvodaya Karnataka Party (SKP) and CITU have extended support to the proposed nationwide strike call given by central trade unions for December 14. Addressing a joint press conference here, CPI(M) State Secretary G N Nagaraj, CPI State Secretariat member H V Anantha Subba Rao, SKP Working President K S Puttannaiah and former Minister P G R Sindhia said the central trade unions have given the strike.....

Dec 14 strike to cover IT in West Bengal

Kolkata, Dec 12: Taking a stand that contradicted Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's investment policy, CITU in West Bengal today announced to observe a 24-hour strike in the state's IT sector along with other areas on December 14 as part of the nationwide programme of the National Platform of Mass Organisations(NPMO). CITU state President Shyamal Chakraborty said the organisation would strive to make the strike total, but no force would be used for its success......
