Krishi Jami Raksha Committee demands CM's resignation

Kolkata, Mar 21 (UNI) Taking out a protest march, the Trinamool Congress-led Krishi Jami Raksha Committee today demanded resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee owning responsibility for the Nandigram firing.

The day was also observed as 'Nandigram Divas' in memory of those killed in the March 14 incident.

Parading a two-km stretch from Rabindranath Tagore's residence at Jorasanko, the processionists converged in a rally at College Square in North Kolkata.

Alleging that the police and CPI(M) men had committed a heinous crime, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanded immediate dismissal of the Left Front Government.

She alleged that both Government and the CPI(M) were lying on what had happened in Nandigram and the magnitude of the incident was much larger than what was officially stated.

Sterling Biotech Q1 net up 23.18 pc

Mumbai Apr 29 : Sterling Biotech Ltd on Friday posted an increase of 23.18 per cent in net profit at Rs 30.23 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, as compared to Rs 24.54 crore for the same quarter last fiscal.
