Lahore, Mar 21 (UNI) Jamaican police authorities called on Pakistan team's media manager P J Mir for a briefing at a police station in Jamaica in connection to coach Bob Woolmer's 'suspicious' death following its shocking ouster from the World Cup.

In a statement given to The News, Mir said, ''It was a sort of briefing in which the local police officials informed me about the standard procedure of investigations in such matters.'' The media manager further informed that in order to dig out the exact reason of Woolmer's death, the Pakistan team players and officials can be questioned.

Speculations looms large over Mir's visit to the police station with some saying that he was summoned by the authorities for cross-questioning over the Englishman's tragic death.

However, he nullified all speculations and said,'' It is all rubbish. I must say it is sensationalism at its worst.'' He also said the authorities have informed him that the team would be free to go once Woolmer's death certificate is issued after conducting the autopsy.

Pakistan, who play Zimbabwe in their last group game today, are expected to head back home on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council cleared its stand on the issue by saying that it had no right to interfere with the investigations being carried out by the host country.

''We are monitoring the situation but have no say in such matter,'' an ICC spokesman told The News. ''All investigations in connection with the death are being carried out according to Jamaican law,'' he explained.
