Hand of Vaughan in Flintoff reprimand

London, Mar 21 (UNI) Andrew Flintoff's drinking sessions got so frequent that skipper Michael Vaughan reportedly asked the English management to strip Freddie of the vice-captaincy post.

It is said that Vaughan regarded Flintoff's participation in a late-night drinking session on Friday as the final straw to take a stand.

Flintoff had been reprimanded in private on other occasions and Vaughan was instrumental in the decision to not allow Flintoff to remain as his deputy anymore, according to BBC Sport.

ECB boss David Morgan was also involved in the decision.

Flintoff, 29, was reprimanded after he fell off a pedalo and got into difficulties in the water early on Saturday morning following the drinking session. He was also dropped for Sunday's game against Canada.

Sources told BBC that the England management felt Flintoff had to be punished because even after earlier drinking occasions he had assured them of not repeating the same but it went on for one too many times for his comfort.

With this incident, Flintoff it seems, has spoilt his chances to become the England captain in the future, sources say.
