Haliyal records 2 cm rain

Bangalore, Mar 21 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0800 hours today.

Rainfall occurred at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Interior Karnataka.

Haliyal recorded 2 cm rain.

Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at many places over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka, being appreciably so at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and above normal at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Gulbarga recorded the highest maximum temperature of 40.2 degree celsius over the State.

Minimum temperatures appreciably rose at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. They were above normal at many places being appreciably so at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Chamarajnagara recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18.2 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Friday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka. Mailny dry weather may prevail over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at isolated places over Dakshina Kannada district and mainly dry weather may prevail over remaining districts of the State.

Local forecast: Mainly clear sky. Maximum and Minimum temperature would be around 35 degree celsius and 22 degree celsius respectively.

Qualcomm-Tata Teleservices launch Fisher Friend

New Delhi, Aug 2: Aimed at helping the fishermen community, Qualcomm today launched a new BREW-based mobile application, Fisher Friend, which will provide information about the weather, risks, opportunities and market information in local languages. Developed in collaboration with Tata Teleservices, Astute System Technology and M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), ''the application is currently under trial on the Tata Teleservices network in Tamil Nadu and will later be extended to other coastal areas,'' said.....
