Govt committed to cattle-breeding: Chudasma

Gandhinagar, Mar 21 (UNI) WIth Gujarat government placing emphasis on cattle-breeding alongwith agriculture during the last four years, the cattle livestock was now worth Rs 10,561 crore, Agriculture Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said today.

Replying to discussion on budgetary allotments in the state assembly on cattle-breeding, Mr Chudasma said that till December 2006, the returns from cattle-breeding was Rs 9,887 crore.

He said during 2004-05 3.86 lakh artificial insemination had taken place and in 2005-06 it was 5.79 lakh while in 2006-07 until February 07 it was 5.45 lakh. This year 10 lakh cattle is expected to be artificially inseminated in the year of ''Krishi Mahotsav'', Mr Chudasma said.

Broad agreement reached on Iran bans: US, Russia

United Nations, Mar 15:  The United States and Russia said that major powers had reached a broad agreement on sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program and were submitting a text to their governments for approval.The goal is to distribute a draft resolution to the 10 rotating members of the 15-nation UN Security Council today, who could vote on it next week.''We have an agreement in principle based on some additional changes that were introduced and presented.....
