Contest to Palamu bypoll between BJP and RJD: Munda

Daltonganj, Mar 21 (UNI) Opposition Leader in the Jharkhand Assembly Arjun Munda today said the main contest to the Palamu Parliamentary by-election was between the BJP and the RJD.

He also hoped that his party would get support from the All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU).

Talking to reporters here, Mr Munda, who was the former Jharkhand Chief Minister, said the fight would be between UPA candidate fielded by the RJD, Ghuran Ram and the NDA candidate fielded by the BJP, Jawahar Paswan.

Regarding the AJSU's supoort in the bypoll, Mr Munda said party president Sudesh Mahto had on several occassions provided support to the NDA, adding this time also AJSU would support the NDA candidate.

Few days ago, a local AJSU leader Anil Chaurasia, who posed competition to JD(U) leader Inder Singh Namdhari in the last Assembly polls, had allegedly announced to support the RJD candidate.

Replying to a query, Mr Munda said the JD(U) was also co-operating in the election campaign for the bypoll.

However, the BJP and JD(U) both filed separate candidature and were ready for the friendly contest but later on the JD(U) withdrew its candidate.

'Centre to set up 15 MT power plant in J'khand'

Ranchi, Jul 21: Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said the Centre was ready to set up a steel plant having a capacity of 15 million tonnes in Jharkhand if the state government ensures to provide two out of three billion tonnes of iron ore produced by Chiria mines. Talking to reporters at the Birsa Munda airport here, Mr Pawswan said the plant would be set up as per state government's choice as soon as the matter.....
