Bihar government surprised over stand of CBI in Lalu's DA case

Patna, Mar 21 (UNI) The Bihar government today expressed surprise over the U turn by the CBI in the Disproportionate Asset (DA) case against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

The investigating agency questioned the maintainability of the state appeal in Patna High Court against the acquittal of Mr Prasad and his wife by the Lower court.

State Advocate General P K Shahi told reporters here that the Bihar government was seriously concerned about the role of the CBI in DA case while referring to the submission of Additional Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniyam in the court today that he would question the maintainability of the state appeal.

He said it was even more ironical that the CBI, supposed to file appeal against the acquittal of Mr Prasad and Ms Rabri Devi, failed to do so and the investigating agency was now even preparing to question the appeal of the state government in this connection.

It appeared that the CBI was taking decision under the influence of extraneous forces other than the established law, he alleged.
