Congress completes list for UP phase I polls

Lucknow, Mar 19: A day before the last date of filing of nominations for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Congress today released the names of two more candidates.

With this, the Congress completed its list of 62 candidates for as many seats going to polls on April 7.

UP Congress vice-president Satyadev Tripathi said here that Jagdish Verma had been fielded from Dayalbagh, while Amar Singh Sharma would contest from Khairagarh.

The party also announced to field Brig (retd) N B Singh for the Billaur Lok Sabha by-election. The bypoll was necessitated after the sitting MP was disqualified in the cash-for-question sting operation.

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) Concerned over the rampant trafficking of India's priceless treasure troves, the Government has decided to strengthen the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972, providing for exemplary punishment to those indulging in smuggling of cultural artefacts. Culture Minister Ambika Soni told mediapersons that a bill with scores of new amendments to the innocuous Act had already been drafted. ''The bill is likely to be introduced in the current session of Parliament itself after getting cabinet approval,'' she.....

Stone India receives order for supply of 100 sets of Wagon Air Brake
