Venkateswara temple doors to close for Eclipse

Tirumala, Mar 18: The Venkateswara temple here will be closed at 2100 hrs in view of solar eclipse today.

TTD sources said that the temple's ''Mahadwaram'' (main extrance) will remain closed from at 2100 hrs and would be opened at 0800 hrs tomorrow.

After performing ''Sudhi'' (cleaning of the temple), the main door will be opened at 0800 hrs. The temple would be opened for public darshan after 1100 hrs.

In view of solar eclipse tomorrow, the ''Arjitha or paid worships like ''Thomala'', ''Archana'' and ''Archananandhanadarshan'' and ''Visesha'' pooja will be cancelled.

However, the ''Suprabhatha Seva'' will be performed at 0810 hrs in the temple.

No date for train services between India-B'desh

Dhaka, Mar 18: Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor today said the date for commencing Joydevpur-Sealdah passenger train service between India and Bangladesh is yet to be finalised, though both the countries have agreed to it in principle.Responding to a question by mediapersons if the train service would commence from April 14 as reported by the Indian media, Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said, ''We have taken the decision in principle, but the date has not been fixed.''
