Uma releases UP poll list; says BJP-SP together

Lucknow, Mar 18: Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) president and firebrand Ram temple movement leader Uma Bharti today charged BJP and Samajwadi Party with being hand-in-hand to regain power in Uttar Pradesh.

Ms Bharti also released her party's first list of 13 candidates for the forthcoming assembly election. ''The second list of 84 candidates will be announced later,'' she told reporters.

She also lamented at the way Gorakhpur MP Adityanath was sidelined by the party, which forced him to announce plans to field his own candidates in Poorvanchal (east UP).

Ms Bharti noted that by chalking out an alliance with Apna Dal, BJP was supporting parties fielding criminals and anti-nationals as their candidates. ''Apna Dal is giving ticket to underworld don Abu Salem and BJP is hobnobbing with that party,'' she noted out.

Civil War-like situation in Nandigram

Nandigram, Mar 18: Alleging that a "civil war-like" situation had been created in Nadigram, Union Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi today held the Left Front government responsible for the killings and threatened to take action if the state did not cooperate with the CBI team."I would ask the CBI to inform the Centre if cooperation is not available. The central government will give all support to the investigating team. CBI should also inform the court," he said, while addressing a rally.....

Dhoni's house attacked after India's defeat

New Delhi/Ranchi/Bangalore, Mar 18: Enraged cricket fans took to the streets, burnt players' effigies and vandalised Mahendra Singh Dhoni's house in the Jharkhand capital today after India crashed to a defeat against Bangladesh in the World Cup. The defeat sparked strong reactions back home. Damage was reported when around 50 youths assembled and attacked the construction site of the new house of dashing India stumper Dhoni in Ranchi. They also burnt the effigy of the player who was out.....

Stability in Pak crucial for dialogue process: Narayanan

Kochi, Mar 18: Describing a stable situation in Pakistan as essential for the success of the composite dialogue process with India, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan today hoped that normalcy would be restored in the neighbouring country.
