One killed, ten injured in north kashmir blast

Baramulla, Mar 16 (UNI) At least one person was killed and ten others wounded and about a dozen shops damaged in a powerful blast near a crowded bus stand near here this afternoon, official sources said. However, unconfirmed reports said one of the injured person died on way to hospital. Official sources said a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near the bus stand killing one Abdul Ahad Bhat, a resident of Sopore, on the spot. Ten others wounded were admitted.....

SPOs fight Maoists for just Rs 1,500

Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, Mar 16 (UNI) For the 4,000 tribal youth in this naxal dominated district, the designation of SPO means a meagre honorarium of Rs 1500 per month and the constant threat to life from the extremists each day. The 39 SPOs, killed in the pre-dawn raid by Naxalites at Ranibodli near Dantewada district's Bijapur yesterday, were among more than 4,000 tribal youth, in the age group of 18-25 years, who had been appointed SPOs under the Police Act to scout.....

Experts panel to study Chhattisgarh's naxal menace

Raipur, Mar 16 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh government will appoint a high-powered experts committee to study, analyse and suggest ways to tackle naxalism, particularly in the state's tribal Bastar region, Chief Minister Raman Singh announced in the Assembly today.
