Lucknow SSP relieved

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) City SSP Rajiv Krishan was relieved from his post tonight after he refused to go to Meerut where the Election Commission had transferred him.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said here today the Commission had received an application from Mr Krishan in which he refused to go to Meerut, which they are considering.

Mr Krishan is relieved tonight, sources said. Mr krishan here tonight said that he is ready to go to Meerut but there was some reasons which he pointed out before the Election Commission.

EC had transferred him to Meerut last night, besides appointing officials in new posting including the state DGP.

In his application Mr Krishan had stated his relationship with Meerut and Lucknow, sources said.

Earlier, the state government had sought the transfer of Mr Krishan as his home town is Lucknow and as per the EC norms no official, engaged in election duty, can stay in his home town.

Meanwhile Election Office sources here said that the application of Mr Krishan is being considered and an appropriate decision would be taken by tomorrow.

DMK, allies win 45 of 67 wards in Chennai corpn repoll

Panchayat elections in Orissa end peacefully

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21 (UNI) The fifth and final phase of the Panchayat elections in Orissa ended peacefully today barring some stray incidents of violence in some booths in four districts. Make Panchayat election expenditure public-OGP

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21 (UNI) Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP) president Bijaya Mohapatra today demanded election expenditures of all the candidates for the Panchayat elections, which concluded today, be made public.
