Women conductors to man 'Ladies Specials' in Pink City

Jaipur, March 16 (UNI) Women conductors will now man 'Ladies Special' buses for the first time in Pink City, with both the state Roadways and private bus operators having decided to employ them.

While Rajasthan Minibus Tour Operators Union officials said the special mini buses meant only for women passengers will be totally managed by women conductors, the Roadways buses will have both men and women conductors.

Women conductors are meant to make passengers feel more comfortable, while dealing with them, besides providing more employment to women.

The women-special mini buses, to be run on five important routes of the city, are slated to start from March 19.

Rajasthan Roadways will also start women special buses from March 21 in the city. Roadways is conducting interviews to take in women conductors on a temporary basis for Ladies Special and its deluxe services.

One killed, four injured in Baramulla blast

Baramulla, Mar 16 (UNI) At least one person was killed and four others were injured in a powerful blast near crowded bus stand near here today, official sources said. Unidentified militants triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the bus stand, where a lot of people were present. Kahlon elected Speaker, Gosian Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Nirmal Singh Kahlon and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Satpal Gosian were unanmiously elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively of the Punjab Assembly today. Their names were proposed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and seconded by Local Bodies Minister and BJP Legislature party leader Manoranjan Kalia.
