Woman claims to be Jagjivan's wife, takes away his body

Morena, MP, Mar 16 (UNI) A woman, who claimed to be the wife of dacoit Jagjivan Parihar, who was killed in an encounter with police along with six other dacoits yesterday, took away the bodies of Jagjivan, his brother Param Singh and his nephew, police said today.

Bhind's Pura village-resident Guddi Bai (34) reached the mortuary this afternoon to claim the dead bodies. Police handed over the bodies to Guddi Bai. A police guard was sent along with the bodies to Garhi Hariksha village, where the last rites will be performed.

Guddi Bai claimed that she married to Jagjivan 20 years ago in Uttar Pradesh's Charaula village. However, she had severed her relationship with him when he became a dacoit.

She said she heard about Jagjivan's death over television yesterday.

At present, she is residing with her three children Satyam (10), Shivam (8) and Sundaram (5) in Shivpuri, where she ekes out her living by working as a labourer.

Guddi Bai last met Jagjivan 5 years back.

Six robbers arrested in Mysore

Mysore, Mar 8 (UNI) The city police have arrested six robbers and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs six lakhs from them. Speaking to newspersons here, city police Commissioner Praveen Sood said the city crime branch police nabbed them within hours of the six robbers looting a man in the city yesterday. The arrested were Tabrij Ali, Hussain Ali, Abdul Khader, Basha, Noushad Ali and Mosin Khan Irani, all from Hosallikoppalu village of Hassan district. The culprits, posing as policemen.....

Govt officials accused of laxity in protecting Govt lands

Bangalore, Mar 8 (UNI) Chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee that is investigating encroachment of Government lands A T Ramaswamy today alleged that various State departments were not making any effort to protect Government lands in their possession in connivance with land sharks in Bangalore Urban and Rural districts. Addressing newspersons here, he said large tracts of prime Government land was in the possession of various departments, including health, education and local bodies, but they showed scant interest in protecting it.....
