Water level in major Kerala reservoirs declines

Kochi, Mar 16 (UNI) Water levels in major reservoirs in Kerala have decreased, according to the Central Water Commission (CWC).

As per figures released by the CWC for the week ending March 12, the water level at Idukki decreased from 2357.20 ft to 2354.50 ft, at Idamalayar from 495.14 ft to 489.83 ft, and at Kallada from 346.59 ft to 341.21 ft.

When compared with the water levels recorded during the same period last year, Kallada, Idukki and Idamalayar reservoirs showed a decrease of 21.52 ft, 5.03 ft and 4.46 ft respectively.

Eleven arrested in connection with Feb 15 shootout in the City

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved a shoot out in the city on February 15 in which two people were killed with the arrest of eleven people and is seeking interpol's assitance to nab the main accused. City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutharao told newsmen here today that six teams of City Crime Branch (CCB) and local police formed specially to nab the culprits have succeded in nabbing the accused in shootout in the office of Shabnam Developers.....

AP targets Rs 20850 crore CT collection in 2007-08

Hyderabad, Mar 16(UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the Commercial Taxes department to increase revenue collection to Rs 16,300 crore by this fiscal and to Rs 20850 crore in next fiscal. Reviewing the performance of the department along with Finance Minister K Rosaiah, he said there was evasion in the petroleum sector and asked the officials to strengthen and modernise the check posts on the border. Four members of a family, including supporting actress, arrested

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Four members of a family, including a former supporting actress of Bollywood, were arrested and stolen articles worth over Rs 13 Lakhs were recovered from them, Commissioner of Police Neelam Achutharao said today. Talking to newsmen here, he said that Kamalesh, Priyanka, Suraj and Bollywood supporting actress Kavitha, posing as customers, had robbed gold and silver ornaments by replacing them with duplicate after diverting the attention of shopkeepers in the city. They had robbed Clothes and Electronic.....
