Voters list to be completed before Lok Sabha poll: Chawla

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) The preparation of photo-affixed list of the eligible voters in the country will be completed before 2009 Lok Sabha elections and they will be provided with ID cards, Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla said today.

Talking to newspersons at airport here, he said, based on the photo-affixed lists of voters, the Lok Sabha poll would be conducted.

Mr Chawla commended the job done by the State Chief Eelection Commissioner Naresh Gupta and his team by completing the preparation of voters list as well as ID cards for the Madurai Central Assembly constituency, where the bypoll would be held soon.

He hoped the concerned officials of other parts of the country would also indulge in similar exercises.

He said arrangements were going on as schedule to hold the Madurai elections and the date for the poll, would be announced shortly.

The voters-list job in Tamil Nadu was likely to be completed by next month, he added.
