Three sentenced 10-years-RI for dowry death

Faridabad, Mar 16: A local court here today sentenced three accused in a dowry case to 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment.
Rabinder and his parents Maya and Giriraj were accused by the victim's father for killing his daughter for dowry.

Rabinder was married to Suman a couple of years of ago. The girl was tortured by her husband and his family, and later killed by her husband out of frustration due to continuous unfulfilled dowry demands.

They were tried in the court of Additional District judge Lalit Batra, who convicted them of the crime and awarded each 10 years RI.

An FIR was lodged with the Palwal Police Station against all the three accused and they were arrested soon after the complaint, police added.

Man sentenced to life for murdering wife

Faridabad, Mar 16: A local court today awarded life imprisonment to a man charged with murdering his wife, whom he suspected of infidelity.

Shiv Narayan and his wife Babita, who worked in a company here, used to fight as he charged her of infidelity. Ultimately, Shiv killed his wife in rage after a heated argument on February 9, 2006.

An FIR was lodged with the Sector - 7 Police Station against him and he was immediately arrested.

Malaysia telecom regulator names WiMAX winners

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 16:  Malaysia's telecoms industry regulator on Friday named four newcomers as winners of much-coveted WiMAX licences, further pressuring established players such as state-controlled Telekom Malaysia Bhd .

Malaysia badly lags more tech savvy nations such as Singapore and South Korea, despite a decade-long plan to become a high-tech nation.

Analysts say the decision to award the licences for WiMAX -- an emerging mobile broadband technology -- to smaller companies is aimed at accelerating competition to meet its objective of wirelessly.....

Bus crash kills 14 in southwestern China

Beijing, Mar 16:  A bus crash in southwestern China has killed 14 people and injured 12, state media today reported.

A minibus carrying 26 people in Yunnan province overturned yesterday night and fell into a bamboo-covered valley, Xinhua news agency said, citing local police.

Rescuers said 10 of the 26 passengers died immediately and four died in hospital.

Yesterday morning, 22 people were killed when a bus veered off a highway and plunged into a reservoir in China's northwestern Shaanxi province.

HAL Trainer flight creates panic in state

Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), Mar 16: A trainer flight of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Bangalore had created panic among the villagers residing in and around Serkadu-Royakottai forest areas of Krishnagiri district yesterday, as two empty petrol tanks of the flight had fallen when the flight was flying around that area.

Police said no one was injured.

Based on the information a police team rushed to the spot and collected parts of the aircraft and accordingly informed the matter to.....

Nandigram issue; RS and LS adjourned for 1hour

New Delhi, Mar 16:  The Nandigram issue reverberated in the Lok Sabha for the second day today with the BJP-led Opposition creating noisy scenes and staging a demonstration, forcing the adjournment of the house for an hour.

As soon as the question hour began, Opposition members trooped into the well of the house, shouting slogans and demanding the resignation of the West Bengal government over the issue of police firing in Nandigram on March 14 which resulted in the death.....
