Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 16 (UNI) Kerala Law Minister M Vijayakumar, told the Assembly today that the Railway ministry had temporarily stopped its work or setting up a new railway division at Salem, following Kerala government's intervention.
In a written reply, he said the state had also urged the Railway Ministry to allot a special ''peninsular zone'' to the state.
The Railways, which had decided to bifurcate the Palakkad division for forming a new Salam division, had even allocated Rs three crore in the budget, forcing the state government to mount pressure on the Centre to stop the measure.
