No mood to discuss presidential election: Kalam

Shillong, Mar 16 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said he is in no mood to talk about the presidential election.

"I am enjoying the hospitality of the beautiful northeastern states and dreaming how to develop this region. I am in that mood now," the President told reporters at the Raj Bhawan here.

Dr Kalam visited three North Eastern states-- Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya.

Kalam suggests Meghalaya govt to set up three SEZs

Shillong, Mar 16 (UNI) In his historic presidential address to 60 Meghalaya lawmakers, President A P J Abdul Kalam today suggested the state government to set up three exclusive special economic zones in Meghalaya which would create additional revenue of Rs 2,500 crore for the state with a direct employment potential of over 25,000 people. ''The SEZs will attract pharmacy, biotechnology and hotel industries,'' the President told lawmakers. Dr Kalam suggested the creation of an SEZ here for herbal,.....

MDMK's exit inconsequential, says P Chidambaram

Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, Mar 17:  Dismissing as inconsequential the exit of the MDMK from the UPA, senior Congress leader and Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said the new development will in no away affect the stability of the Manmohan Singh Government.Responding to queries from mediapersons here, he said two Lok Sabha members of the MDMK have already come out of that party and as such Mr Vaiko's decision to pull out of the Congress-led UPA would not have any adverse.....

Bengal bandh total; Front partners threaten to quit

Kolkata, Mar 16 (UNI) Marked by stray violence, the 12-hour opposition-sponsored bandh paralysed life in West Bengal today as three Left Front partners sounded revolt against the CPI(M) threatening to quit the Ministry over the Nandigram issue. Alleging that the Nandigram mayhem was much bigger than stated in official reports, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit the area, where police opened fire on Wednesday killing 14 people and injuring many. A CBI team visited Nandigram.....
