Navneet launches foreign-made pencils, erasers

Ahmedabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Navneet, a leading player in the field of educational books publishing and paper stationary, has forayed in the non-paper stationary segment, with its range of foreign-made pencils, erasers and sharpeners.

The products will be sold under the brand name 'FfUuNn', and are being outsourced from Thailand, China, Germany and England, Mr Kalpesh Gala, Vice-President of Stationary division, told mediapersons here.

''We get made-to-order products, that are in keeping with our quality standards, from abroad and market them here,'' he said.

The company plans to introduce the whole range of stationary products that children need in their schools including colour pencils, crayons and compass boxes, in the next five years.

Navneet, which has been for over 46 years in the field of Educational Books Publishing, enjoys leading position in premiere stationery markets in India, the Middle East, parts of Africa, USA and Europe. The company's products are sold under the 'Navneet', 'Vikas' and 'Gala' brand names and are available at 63,000 outlets across the country.

Its stationary division posted a turnover of Rs 80 crore last fiscal, Mr Gala said.

Silver, Gold up on bullish global advices

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Both the precious metals today went up on bullish global advices with Silver advancing by Rs 150 per kg and Gold by Rs 55 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange. Silver fineness opened upward at Rs 19,410 per kg. It improved and closed at Rs 19,450 per kg with a gain of Rs 150 from its yesterday's close. In London, Silver also moved upward at USD 12.94/13.08 per troy ounce against USD 12.80/12.94 per.....

Call money closes firm at 9.50-10 pc

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Interbank call money rates today spiked to 9.50-10.00 per cent during the end of the session as against their earlier close of 5.40-5.50 per cent, traders said. As the impact of the quarterly tax payments took effect, liquidity came under intense pressure resulting in the steep rise of inter bank rates. Rupee closes at 44.11/12 against USD

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The Rupee today ended firm at 44.11/12 per US dollar against its previous close of 44.19/20, as banks sold dollars expecting liquidity to tighten and as dollar demand from importers stayed feeble, dealers said. The Rupee fluctuated between 44.11 and 44.22 in intra-day trades, which finally ended at 44.11/12 with a modest gain of four paise from its last close. The widely traded 8.07 per cent, 2017 paper closed higher at Rs 100.35 against its previous close.....
