Municipal staff go on road roko

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Mar 16 (UNI) Councillors and staff of Cuddalore Municipality today staged a road roko to protest 'attack' on Municipal Chairman D Thangarasu of the DMK by Former Chairman A G Rajendran of the same party.

Police said trouble began last night when Thangarasu along with some staff went to the old shopping complex near the bus stand to undertake some demolition work on the dilapidated structure.

Meanwhile, Rajendran and his brother Mathi who came there objected saying no prior notice was given for the demolition and allegedly hit Thangarasu. After a while, they dispersed.

However, news of the 'attack' spread fast leading to today's agitation.

Police dispersed the protestors. However, all the 700 staff went on mass casual leave. Later, Thangarasu lodged a complaint with the police.

Satra properties to set up 5 star hotel at Rs 175cr

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Satra Properties India Ltd today said it will set up a five star hotel at an investment of Rs 175 crore. To be spread over an area of 1,75,000 square feet, the project, 'Satra Palace' is expected to be completed in three to four years time. However, the details on location of the hotel were not divulged by the company. The company also said it has finalised a deal for acquisition of 94 cents of land.....

Wanted "bureau puller" arrested

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) The City police arrested a wanted criminal, involved in several thefts and evading arrest for the last seven years at suburban Madipakkam last night, officials today said. City Police Commissioner Letika Saran told mediapersons that a special team, formed to nab the culprit, spotted him at Madipakkam, However, on seeing the police party, he started running but the police chased and arrested him. Mrs Saran said the arrested, identified as 30-year-old Nagamani, hailed from Gingee in Villupuram.....

Experts call for satellite-based aircraft navigational systems

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Aviation experts today called for adopting new concepts that are emerging for seamless navigation of growing air traffic and air space management systems. Former civil aviation secretary K Roy Paul said the global positioning system-aided Geo-Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) project being developed is a significant contribution in communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) systems. India has sufficient strength in the area of software development. ''This strength and domain knowledge in air navigation services available with the Airports Authority.....
