Mullana raps Bhajan for criticising Sonia

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana today denounced the recent statement of former chief minister Bhajan Lal wherein he had criticised Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

In a statement, Mr Mullana said Mr Bhajan Lal's statement, in which he had condemned the functioning of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in particular and Congress party in general, was unfounded, baseless and seemed to have come out of frustration.

Mr Mullana said it did not behove a person like Mr Bhajan Lal talk against Ms Sonia Gandhi who was the ''only leader in the country who strengthened the party by sacrificing a number of times.'' He also said under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the state was progressing day by day and was poised to become the number one state in the country.

Raipur, Mar 16 (UNI) Chhattisgarh government today suspended the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) 9th battalion commandant after Naxalites massacred 55 security personnel yesterday at the Ranobodli police camp in tribal Dantewada district in the pre-dawn hours. India concerned over rise of Taliban in Afghanistan

Shimla, Mar 16 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today expressed concern over the regrouping of the Taliban in Afghanisthan and hoped that international forces present there would crush them. ''The regrouping of Taliban forces in Afghanistan is a cause of concern and we hope international security forces present there would be able to counter them,'' he said at a press conference here. Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 16 (UNI) Five people including four nuns, were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Siruganur on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National Highway early today.
