Mulayam seeks to comfort disgruntled Beni

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said disgruntled Samajwadi Party general secretary and Lok Sabha member Beni Prasad Verma will remain in the party and his annoyance would be sorted out soon.

''There is no question of Mr Verma forming a new party and everything will be settled soon,'' he assured.

Addressing a news conference here, Mr Yadav said ''I know him well, as he had announced formation of a new party several times earlier.'' ''Mr Verma is a dedicated senior leader of the party and he will continue to be so in future,'' he observed.

Earlier Mr Verma, peeved with the distribution of party tickets, had announced to form a new political outfit -- Samajwadi Kranti Dal -- in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, in a major boost to SP, several Congress and BJP leaders from Allahabad joined the party in the CM's presence.

Those who joined SP include Congress leader and former MLA Satish Jaiswal, Swami Charan Sahu and Suraj Jaiswal and BJP leader Dr Santosh Jain.

39 sitting MLAs in SP's 3rd list of UP poll candidates

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) today released the third list of 88 candidates for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly election. Thirty-nine sitting MLAs, including rebels from the Opposition BSP and BJP. The party has also fielded some of the 13 rebel BSP MLAs disqualified by the Supreme Court on February 14 for forming a splinter group and mering with the SP. Such disqualified MLAs in the list include Rajendra Singh Rana, who had spearheaded a vertical split.....

Labour Party (Secular) merges with SP

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Labour Party (Secular) today merged with the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. Party's president Bharat Singh Baghel announced the merger in the presence of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav here. In the 2002 assembly poll, the party had fielded 150 candidates and received 1.5 per cent vote. However, none of its candidate had won in the election. Mr Yadav said the merger will strengthen SP in the assembly poll. UNI.....

NCP finalising alliance with IJP, CPI(M-L) for UP poll

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today announced it was finalising seat sharing agreement with Indian Justice Party (IJP) and CPI (Marxist-Leninist) for the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Talking to reporters here, NCP state unit president Dr Ramesh Dixit said the seat sharing arrangement would help strengthen the secular alliance. ''To strengthen secular parties, we have already submitted a list of 25 probables from our party to Jan Morcha Alliance (JMA), IJP and CPI (M-L), CPI.....
