MERC members stage walkout during public hearing

Thane, Mar 16 (UNI) Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) members today staged a walkout during a hearing held to discuss grievances of people over the rise in power tariff in the state here.

The members were annoyed after members of various associations from across the State expressed their displeasure over the increase in the electricity tariff before today's hearing.

When one of the members remarked that the commission was in no mood to listen to them, MERC Chairperson Pramod Dev and two other members got annoyed and walked out in protest.

Representatives of various people's organisations from Pune, Ratnagiri, Nashik and other places had assembled for the hearing but were left high and dry after the members staged a walk out.

A businessman seriously injured in a looting incident

Bhuj, Mar 16 (UNI) An Industrialist received serious bullet injuries when some unidentified persons shot at him near Pashuda village and allegedly looted an amount of Rs eight lakh last evening. Police sources said the victim Hiren Vinaykant Shah (29), who sustained five bullet injuries, is undergoing treatment at a Gandhidham based private hospital. Sex racket invlolving PI triggers debate in Guj police

Ahmedabad, March 16 (UNI) The arrest of senior police inspector H B Pandya in a sex racket continues to dog the Ahmedabad police, as the matter was discussed heatedly in a meeting called by Director General of Police, Gujarat at the IPS mess.
