K'taka Council adjourned to March 21

Bangalore, Mar 16 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Council was adjourned to March 21 after Higher Education Minister and leader of the House D H Shankaramurthy tabled a copy of the budgetary proposals for 2007-08, presented in the Assembly today.

As soon as the House assembled, Mr Shankaramurthy tabled a copy of the budgetary proposals, presented in the Assembly by Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who also holds the finance portfolio, amidst protests from the Opposition Congress members.

Interrupting, Leader of the Opposition H K Patil charged that the budget had lost its sanctity as the proposals had been leaked out and even appeared in the media.

Mr Sachidananda Khot, who was in the Chair, adjourned the House, immediately after the budget copy was tabled.

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) A strong protest was registered today, against a proposal to accord 'reserved' status to the Betul Lok Sabha constituency, during a public hearing here of the Delimitation Commission's draft proposal regarding Madhya Pradesh's parliamentary constituencies and assembly seats. The second consecutive day's hearing took place in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy, who is a Delimitation Commission Member. Indore, Feb 20 (UNI) A scintillating unbeaten knock of 107 by Siddharth Joshi helped Rajasthan defeated Vidarbha by two wickets in a Central Zone Ranji league one-dayer here.
