Jewel shop staff held, stolen ornaments recovered

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) Police today arrested a jewellery shop employee for stealing 40 sovereigns of gold ornaments, at suburban Velacherry here.

Police said Sugan of Rajasthan was working in the shop owned by one Mahendrakumar. He also stayed along with him.

Sugan was missing since yesterday and the robbery came to light when Mahendrakumar, on suspicion, checked the stocks.

Based on his complaint, police arrested Sugan when he was hiding in his friend's room at M K B Nagar and recovered the stolen jewellery from him.

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) The City police arrested a wanted criminal, involved in several thefts and evading arrest for the last seven years at suburban Madipakkam last night, officials today said. City Police Commissioner Letika Saran told mediapersons that a special team, formed to nab the culprit, spotted him at Madipakkam, However, on seeing the police party, he started running but the police chased and arrested him. Mrs Saran said the arrested, identified as 30-year-old Nagamani, hailed from Gingee in Villupuram.....

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Police today arrested five persons, including a police inspector, in connection with the murder case of a naxal woman in the city. According to police, Police Inspector Kishan Singh and four others were held in connection with the murder of Swroopa Rani, a former Maoist member. The Inspector allegedly had an illicit relationship with her since she came to public life in 1997. The accused had killed Swaroopa Rani and burnt the body on the city.....
