Idol in TN temple worth Rs 15 lakh missing

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nad, Mar 16 (UNI) The 175 ft Panchaloka idol weighing 11 kgs and worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from Maliswaran temple at Chengalmal in Kelambakkam, near here yesterday.

Police said the watchman of the temple noticed a stranger leaving the temple premises during the morning pooja. The temple authorities chase went in vain as the stranger managed to escape. When they searched the room in which the valuables were stored, the found the idol of the deity Chandrasekaraswamy missing.

A police team and finger-print experts rushed to the spot.

A case had been registered and investigation was underway, police added.

PU Board to hire pvt detective agency to curb malpractices

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) The Karnataka Pre-University Board, for the first time, will hire private detective agencies to curb malpractices during its second year examinations, to be held from March 29 to April 16, Board Commissioner S G Hegde disclosed today.
